Amanda & Jerimy's Engagement Session Part 1

I photographed Amanda & Jerimy yesterday. We only got to do a little bit of the session because it started raining on us! We are going to continue the shoot tomorrow. I hope we won't get rained out!! I was having a lot of fun--they weather felt good...the rain wasn't that bad. We were seriously taking pics while it was raining! You can't tell in the pics though!

Saturday, I had a lovely day shooting Lauren & Josh's wedding. They looked absolutely amazing and the weather was awesome! It didn't feel like July!! Lauren & Josh's family were great! I enjoyed seeing how everyone was excited about them getting married!

This is my last wedding until Aug. 11th! I will be catching up on a lot of stuff between now & then! I'm excited for a little break!

Emma Jane's Portrait Session

I photographed the lovely Emma Jane yesterday. Her mom was wanting to get a portrait of her with her long hair before she cuts it off. She is planning to donate her hair to Locks of Love! She definitely has a lot of hair to donate! I think it is super awesome that she is doing that!

I photographed Kelly & Wayne yesterday. They are already married, but wanted to get some pics of them together. They are having a belated anniversary celebration. They were going to celebrate by going out to a upscale, fine dining & romantic restaurant in Charlotte- The McNinch House. They decided since they don't do this often and they were getting dressed up, they should have their pics taken! I thought it was a super sweet idea.

Once you have children, you really never get anymore pics alone! What a great way to keep the romance alive and document another stage in your life! It's nice having your kids in the pic, but sometimes it is nice to just have some pics taken alone. Plus, you definitely can't do all those romantic shots that I love to take w/ the kids in the pics! LOL
Anyways, on to the faves of the shoot!

Tracie & Scott's 7-7-07 Wedding

My mom & I had a great time photographing Scott & Tracie's wedding this past Saturday. The biggest wedding day of the year. They got married at Queen's Landing on the Catawba Queen. It was an awesome day to be out on the boat! The breeze felt great. It almost felt like we weren't working!!

The new captain of the ship! This little guy was super cute!

Tracie's Dad was was really getting choked up during the father/daughter dance.

Scott was definitely going for the garter!

Didi & Donnie's Engagement Session

I got to meet and Didi & Donnie for the first time on Friday during their engagement session. Didi was so excited and up for anything! And when I say anything, I mean getting in a shopping cart that was on the side of the road! LOL
Needless to say, I had a great time working with them!! Except for when Didi was telling me the graffiti wall was no longer there. At the time, I didn't quite understand she meant it was totally gone until I saw for myself! I guess I was having a blonde moment! The graffiti wall has been demolished so that means no more pics there. It is just a pile of rubble and dirt!!!

P.S. I have a new idea in mind and my couple next weekend are willing to try it!! Hopefully everything will work out!!

Anyways--on to the pics!

I photographed Leticia & Mike at Saratoga Springs last Sunday. It was a beautiful day! We got so many nice shots of everyone outdoors. It wasn't as hot as it has been, so that was super nice! I was really surprised since it was an outside wedding in July!
Here are a few of my faves from the day...

I just noticed every pic that I chose of them together is of them kissing!! They were seriously like this all day though!! I had to tell them numerous times to get a room! ;-) LOL

This is probably my fave pic of the day b/c it was so funny! Mike wanted a pic of him jumping after we did one during the engagement session!

Lia & Jason's Wedding June 30, 2007

I had a blast shooting Lia & Jason's wedding this past Saturday. My mom was second shooting with me and we were both cracking up at Jason's antics. They are such a great couple and you can really see how much they love each other. Both of their families are really awesome. I really enjoyed the toasts/roasts because you got to see another side of them!!

I shot two weddings this weekend, so I'm pretty tired now! I still have Sunday's wedding to post, so I'm not posting as many pics this time.

They were doing the lift during the dirty dancing song--I had the time of my life....

Jason's brother was a tad jealous and wanted to join in on the action! Jason told me he was heavier than Lia, so he had a harder time lifting him! LOL :)

I had a great time photographing Katelyn today. She was so cute and had some amazing style! She is a senior this fall so these are her senior/portfolio pics.
Katelyn is Miss NC Teen Hawaiian Tropic. Next month, she is headed to Canada to compete in the International Miss Hawaiian Tropic! How cool is that!? Let's all wish her luck!
Katelyn was really up for anything today and I was super excited to do some different shots for her. I wanted her to have more of an urban session and I think we definitely covered that!

Linda's Family Session

Wednesday I had the pleasure of photographing Linda's family. She wanted a family portrait as her Mother's Day gift. She had to wait until she was able to get everyone together though. She only really had one day to do it! Her youngest son is about to head off to basic training in Kentucky. Her other son had just flown in from New York. I was really happy that I was able to do the shoot for her. I know it was very important to her so these pictures will mean a lot!

Lia's Bridal Session

I photographed Lia today. She is getting married this Saturday!! Her wedding is going to be awesome and you are going to get to see a lot of fun shots!! We talked about everything tonight and I can't wait!
Lia looked totally amazing in her dress! She had her makeup done by MAC and they did an awesome job!! I told her she looked like Princess Barbie!!

Courtney's Bridal Session

I had a great time photographing Courtney yesterday. She is so easy to photograph! She has a really elegant look about her. We started at the studio and then went on location for the rest of the shoot. I was hoping it would cool off a bit, but it was like a sauna outside. We were lucky though and finished before that awful storm came!!

I had the pleasure of photograhing Kellie & Stevie's wedding yesterday. They got married in downtown Concord at Saint James Lutheran Church. It was a gorgeous day for a wedding. Kellie had everything planned out perfectly and everyone was ready to start when I got there, which is definitely unusual! :) Kellie had picked out the perfect bridesmaids dresses. I think they are my favorite dresses so far this year!! I guess how could I not like her stuff, especially when they match my website, logo, etc. so well!!

Leslie & Gene's Trash the Dress session

I photographed Gene & Leslie on Sunday & Monday in Charleston, SC and Edisto Beach. We had a lot of fun trashing her dress! I think these sessions are so awesome. It is a great way to show your husband that you no longer need your dress. Plus, you will have pictures that you will treasure forever! Trashing the dress is not about destroying the dress, it is just about having a carefree attitude and not worrying about the dress. I'm sure Leslie will be able to clean her dress and you will never know where it has been!

I photographed Holly yesterday. We were really worried that it was going to rain, but we got lucky. She called me that morning wondering what to do and I told her we would just have wait and see! She decided that we would go ahead and do the session and it was a great thing we did. When she called to book the session, she said that she knew it would be hot!! Well she got really lucky since it was like 73 degrees!! I was glad we did it too! Neither of us was sweating!!

My mom and I photographed Rindy & Thomas's wedding on Saturday. The day was gorgeous. They got married at First Presbyterian Church in Concord. That is a gorgeous church for weddings. Their reception was at the Copperfield Room, which was my first time shooting there. I have a few more receptions coming up that are taking place there.

Ashley & Chase's Wedding June 2, 2007 Saratoga Springs

I had so much fun photographing Ashley & Chase's wedding. I really felt like I was an old friend with a really nice camera there!! Some of their wedding party, I have already photographed, so I was really comfortable around everyone. Plus, Ashley is one of the sweetest people I know--you can't help feeling at ease around her! I'm also shooting Chase's cousin Jason's wedding. I'm sure everyone will recognize his pics. He had the pics where they were in the water and got super soaked!

The day was really nice. We did have a bit of rain, but it did not rain us out! Saratoga Springs has a great location so they did not get wet at all during the ceremony!!
My mom & I got a ton of awesome pics and I have so many to share!! But, here are a bunch of my faves for now!

I think this is my favorite dress shot of the year so far! I love the light & everything about this pic!

Ashley loved having cake smashed in her face! Chase claims he couldn't see where he was putting it! I might have one photo to back him up on that--his eyes looked somewhat closed!! You can't tell in this one though!

I photographed Grady's family on Sunday afternoon. Nelson--Grady's son-in-law was the builder of our portrait studio and house. They did an awesome job on it!
They wanted to get some pics of the whole family and then individual family group shots. We took a ton of pics--there were 7 children so we wanted to make sure we got plenty of good ones! I think we definitely achieved that!

I had a blast photographing Kari & Jerry's wedding this past weekend. They are an awesome couple and so fun to be around. They got married at the gorgeous Magnolia Glen! It was my first time shooting there and I was amazed at how beautiful that venue is. It is a gorgeous location for an outdoor wedding.

I've been slightly behind with my blogging because I decided I would celebrate Memorial Day! My boyfriend and I went to the beach for the day. It was great to get away from my work for a day!

Lindsay's Bridal Session

I photographed Lindsay today. She is a gorgeous and photogenic bride! She is getting married in September at Dennis Vineyards in Albemarle. I know her wedding is going to be gorgeous! I can't wait to shoot at a vineyard again!
Lindsay also has a special talent!! I was really impressed with her bridal bouquet! She made it herself and it was gorgeous! She even had the most intricate lacing around the stems that I have ever seen! It was really fancy! I couldn't believe she did it herself!! I guess I should have posted a picture of that, but oh well--you would much rather see her gorgeous pics!

The eyes are definitely the window to the soul. I always try to capture a close ups of the eyes. I think they are one of the best features that people have. That and smiles! Lindsay definitely has both going on!

Amanda's Bridal Session May 21, 2007

I had the pleasure of photographing Amanda today. She looked absolutely stunning and radiant! Her hair and makeup were awesome. She even had sparkly hairspray!!

I think every time I do session with Amanda it is super hot! In December, I photographed her engagement session and I swear it was like 75 or 80 degrees!! I think we had it slightly beat today by about 10 degrees!

By looking at her, you definitely couldn't tell we were melting outside!! I was sweaty and nasty and Amanda was perfection!! I know she was super hot though, because she had on quite a few layers on with all the crinoline.
I'm looking forward to her wedding in August! I'm sure it will be another hot one, but I think we are pros with the heat by now!!

P.S. I also want to thank all of my awesome brides that let me share their bridal portraits on the blog before the wedding!! You girls rock!

Amanda has some amazing eyes and I really wanted to capture that with this headshot!

Kimberly & Jason's Engagement Session May 20, 2007

I had one of the best times shooting Kimberly & Jason yesterday! We had a wet & wild time doing their shoot! They really were up for anything! I love couples like this! It just lets me do all kinds of cool and fun shots! When Kimberly had emailed me about setting up her shoot, she said they wanted to get in the water. Once she told me that, I was super excited and started planning! We got a lot of great shots! I was so excited about all of their pics!
During the first part of the "wet" session, Jason & Kimberly said told me they thought they were going to get more wet than they were!! LOL I didn't disappoint them!

A lot of people know that I love birds....we have a Yellow-naped Amazon parrot that is adored!
When I was in Australia back in January, we went to BIRD WORLD! That place was awesome! They had so many different species! You could buy food and they would come land on you! I had so much fun! I loved them so much! Ignore my sweaty appearance! It was like 90 degrees!!

Jennifer & Miles' Wedding

Saturday, my cousin Jennifer got married. She had a really small, intimate gathering with only close friends and relatives. They got married at Carrigan Farms, which is a gorgeous location for weddings and photos. It rained a bit, but it didn't dampen their spirits! There are some photos you can even see the rain in the background. The rain did hold off for a bit after the ceremony and I was able to get a couple beautiful shots of them on the rocks, which are amazing.

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Courtney & Bob today. I'm photographing their wedding in September, but this was my first time meeting them. They had wanted to go ahead and book me without meeting me!! That is definitely unusual for most brides, but they made a good choice with me! LOL Since this was my first time meeting them, I wanted to get a feel for the type of pictures that they liked. Courtney told me she wanted some more traditional-type poses and some fun stuff. I think we definitely accomplished that.

I had the pleasure of working with Mandy & Adam again. They are such a fun, energetic couple. You can definitely tell that by their engagement pictures I did a few weeks ago!
They got married at the Mint Museum in uptown Charlotte, so we were able to get some really cool shots. I love shooting in uptown, because there is such a variety of areas to shoot. We had a great day and my sister was the 2nd shooter this time. My mom had hurt her knee, so she was out of commission! LOL Be sure to check out Kate's blog to see some of her images from the day.

Rindy's Bridal Session April 23, 2007

I had a super easy job today!! I got to photograph Rindy. She is a really elegant and gorgeous bride! I had a hard time just picking a few favorites! They were all so beautiful! This is my first time photographing her and it went really well. She is not doing the engagement session and instead is going to do a "We Did" session! This is a session where you put on that nice wedding gown and are not afraid to get it dirty! I think she might even get in the water for me!! That will be a really FUN session!!

Holly & David's Engagement Session April 22, 2007

Yesterday, I got to photograph one of my past bride's brother and his fiance. We had a great day--just a tad hot, but the light was amazing. Holly & David are getting married in October. They are doing a really rustic, country type wedding. Holly has everything planned and I'm amazed at how organized she is. For their session & photos, I really wanted to give it a more rustic, old school type feel to it. I think we captured that really well!

Piper's portrait session April 20, 2007

I photographed Piper today for her 3 month old pics. She is the sweetest little girl and was full of smiles as soon as she came inside. Kari is really lucky to have such a precious little girl. She is going to be a heartbreak with her big, beautiful blue eyes!
I also took a few pictures of Piper with her big brother. He liked me because I looked like a sneezing giraffe! haha :)

I photographed Kari yesterday. We did a lot of cool poses and I had a blast. We were lucky b/c as I was getting in my car, it started raining!! Kari looked absolutely amazing and Jerry is going to be like Whoa when he sees her! I can't wait for her wedding next month!

Do you want to know my weakness? I hate creepy, crawly insects, bugs, moths, spiders--even LADYBUGS! HAHA ---Everything grosses me out and scares me! haha That is the girl in me for sure!

Well yesterday, I was photographing Ashley & Chase outside. I had just finished shooting some pictures of them laying on the ground and they were getting up. Chase's mom had stopped by and she was looking at Chase and said, "You have a caterpillar on you." I think I knew she was talking to Chase, but me being a girl that freaks about any of that stuff, I scream. Ashley assumed since I was screaming that the caterpillar was on me! LOL I know they thought I was a big baby! That's okay though! They would have seen me running around and screaming if it had been ON me!

Chase ended up flicking the caterpillar off and it landed near my camera bag. I'm pretty sure I screamed again! haha (Insert embarrassing smiley here!!) I had to make Chase show me that the caterpillar wasn't on my bag and then point to the exact location where the caterpillar had landed!!

Take a look at the culprit! I was looking through their images and started laughing when I saw these. I have a bunch with the caterpillar just crawling/chillin' on Chase's arm! I can't believe he didn't feel it crawling on him!! I get chills just thinking about it! Gross!

Blog Anniversary!!

Today marks the one year anniversary of my blog! I'm really excited about this and kind of shocked! I can't believe it has been a full year since I started blogging. The blog is awesome though and I love being able to share with you some of my personal stuff!! The blog gets more hits than my website! So thank you! I know what I'm doing is not in vain! I've been trying to tell that to my boyfriend, but he thinks this isn't necessary! Ha!! Seriously though, I am really grateful for all of the wonderful clients & couples I have met. I enjoy being a part of everyone's lives and meeting new people! I have made some new friends as well!!

This year is even going to be busier! The next couple of months are going to be super busy and you will see a lot of new pictures! I have so many great weddings that I'm shooting and I can't wait. The year has already kicked off and I'm having a lot of fun! I love capturing and documenting the moments that are treasured forever!!

I know that might sound a little sappy, but it is true! Some of clients have sent me testimonials and it really meant a lot to me to know how they felt about me and the whole experience of working with me!!

Wendy & Alan's Wedding at The Lakes April 14, 2007

Here is a little sneak peek from Wendy & Alan's wedding on Saturday. I had a great time with them and we got really lucky with the weather. Their ceremony was outside at The Lakes at 6 p.m. The ceremony started on time and I did all the shots after the ceremony--family, etc. Right around 7:10 p.m. after the came in and were announced it started pouring! I'm glad it didn't rain while I was doing their pictures! The last shots I did were of them sitting on the ground!

I photographed Kellie's bridal session on Tuesday. We were really lucky with the nice day. I did a photoshoot the day before and it was a bit chilly!
Kellie looked amazing in her dress! I loved the train and how the back of the dress looked! Another neat thing was her veil--it was actually her mom's! I thought that was nice how she incorporated that! Her mom told me she wasn't going for her dress though! LOL :)

I had a blast photographing Mandy & Adam yesterday! They were a crazy & fun couple--and would do anything I wanted!! They are getting married in a couple of weeks at the Mint Museum. I'm looking forward to their wedding because I know it will be a lot of fun! I really liked doing this urban engagement session because this isn't the typical engagement shoot couples want me to do. It really allowed me to be creative!

I photographed Erin & Jason's vow renewal on Saturday at Childress Vineyards. That is a gorgeous location for weddings! It was an awesome and beautiful day, but super windy and cold! Here are a few of my faves for now! I will post a slideshow soon!

I loved this series of images--this is when they were seeing each other for the first time! How sweet!

I had a blast shoot Kerrin & Chet's wedding this past Saturday. Kerrin has the most vivacious and outgoing personality. You should have seen her that morning. She was in full gear--not stressed out, just joking and laughing and having a good time! I love brides like that. You know the whole day is going to be like that--just relaxed and about having a good time!
Chet is a great guy too--although, I do have to say he tried tricking me that morning. I was photographing him getting ready and this other guy comes up. I'm looking at this other guy thinking in my head, "Heather, you have been photographing the wrong dude!" The other guy looked almost identical and I thought he was the groom!! But nope, that was the twin brother! LOL I did have the right guy! They did try tricking me though! LOL I was very confused at first! I had a great time with all of them!

Kacie & Kyle's Engagement Session April 1st

I photographed Kacie & Kyle on Sunday at their family farm. I was so afraid that it would start raining on us any minute, but it held out! We got some awesome pictures. They were so easy and fun to work with! They definitely didn't mind getting dirty and muddy!!

Vegas was pretty awesome, even with the snafus that I dealt with!

Here is how it started---Saturday-we arrived in Vegas and got to stay at the awesome Venetian Hotel. We drove to the Hoover Dam, which was pretty neat. I brought along my portable navigation system so we had no problems with directions. Well the bf rented a jeep, and that wasn't too cool. I forgot to bring a ponytail holder, so you can only imagine what my hair looked like!! I also invited my mom to go and she joined us for a few days! Her hair was a mess too. Well since we were in the jeep, we had to keep lifting the seat up so we the person in the back could get out.

At one point, I guess my $500 navigation system slid under the seat and got crushed!! I was upset!! You can't push the buttons the screen now and there are a few cracks on it! :( I guess I will upgrade to the latest one now....

Sunday, we met with some other photographers and shot pics! That was really fun! I had a great time shooting and got some great shots! Later that night, we went and saw the Cirque Du Soleil "O". That show was amazing! I highly recommend watching it if you are in Vegas! We were on the 5th row and you could see everything!!

Monday, I headed to the largest photography tradeshow! My feet were tired after looking at like 1000 vendors! I still have so much stuff to go through, but I do have some AWESOME new matted albums that I will be offering!! These aren't like your parents' matted albums either!!

Tuesday, we went to Red Rocks canyon in the morning and then later that afternoon I go some virus. I wasn't able to make it to any classes after that. I found out later that there is this norovirus going around and other photographers were getting sick.

Wednesday, I was feeling better again, which was great. We went to the dessert and watched a couple really cool photographers do a shoot. I took some pics of them as well and some of the scenes they set up. It was so cold that day!! I had to buy a hoodie, just so I wouldn't freeze too much!

Friday, we ran into some difficulties with our flight home!! I was starting to get freaked out! I had to be home on Saturday and ready to leave my house at 10:30 am to shoot a wedding. Our 2:15 flight to leave Vegas, go delayed until 5:15 and it had a layover in Dallas. Well, Dallas was canceling all the flights, so I wouldn't have been able to get home if we had stayed on the flight to Dallas. We ended up getting our flight switched to US Airways which was direct to Charlotte leaving at 4 p.m. We BARELY made it on that flight--we had to run just to make it!!

After we finally made it home from the airport on Friday night, my bf ended up getting the same bug that I had on Tuesday...only his still hasn't gone away!
Also, since all of our luggage was on the plane to Dallas, I didn't have too many options for clothing on Saturday. I had packed almost all my clothes for Vegas. We did get lucky and get our luggage back on Sunday! My bf was really stressed out since he had packed his golf clubs!!

All in all, it was a great trip!! I have lots of pics to post, but here are a few for now!!

These last 3 images are from the desert shoot. It was really inspiring watching other photographers set up shots and see how they shoot. We got to see the images they shot the next day! It is really cool to see their takes on the same shots!

I photographed two-week old Corbin on Saturday. He was the cutest little baby. I was so surprised when he stayed awake the WHOLE session!! Most newborns sleep the whole time!! Not him! He was wide awake! We had our hands full with him, but it was definitely worth it!!

I had a great time shooting Meagan & Josh's wedding this past weekend. My mom was my second shooter and we got a lot of great images. I was really looking forward to their wedding. Meagan & Josh are the sort of people that you love as soon as you meet them. They are super nice & great to work with. I know I pushed them to the limit when we did their engagement shoot in November at the beach. The water was somewhat cold, but that didn't stop them from getting in.

Since this is my last wedding for a while, I am going to post a few extras! My next wedding isn't until March, so I have a little break! :-)

My boyfriend's boss gave him 4 tickets to the Bobcats game for Christmas. My friends Kennie & Audra joined us! We had a lot of fun hanging out. Daniel was really happy that the Wizards covered the spread! $$$ ;-)

I had a great time photographing Tiffany & Michael's wedding on Saturday. We had perfect weather, so it was a perfect day. I'm starting to feel like a part of their family because I photographed Michael's sister Leslie's wedding back in October. They were referred by Leslie. I told them they need someone else to get married now so we can do it again! They were going out to RiRa's after the wedding and I was invited, but unfortunately my boyfriend hadn't finished his Christmas shopping. We hit the malls instead! And then we still had to go shopping for more on Sunday!! He is a huge procrastinator! He waited until Sunday to finish my Christmas presents!!
I hope you guys are having fun in Disney World!!

I photographed Amanda & Jonathan on Monday at Hurley Park. It was the best weather for mid-December! It was like 75 degrees! I was even sweating after working for a bit.
We had a lot of fun doing the shoot. We did a lot of the pictures at Hurley Park and then went over near the train depot. We even got some cool shots with a train in the background.
